New to diving

The Snorkel Diver course introduces you to the skills and equipment needed to confidently and safely explore the underwater world. Designed for beginners, this program teaches you how to use a mask, fins, and snorkel to swim on the surface and occasionally dive below to observe marine life up close.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to explore aquatic landscapes and wildlife, opening the door to unforgettable underwater experiences.

In this course, you will explore essential topics for safe and enjoyable snorkelling, including:

The Aquatic Environment:

Learn about how vision, light, sound, and heat loss affect you underwater, as well as understanding tides, currents, waves, and marine life safety.

Physics and Physiology:

Gain insight into buoyancy, pressure, equalization techniques, and the risks of hyperventilation.

Snorkelling Equipment and Accessories:

Master the use of key gear, including masks, fins, snorkels, exposure protection, buoyancy devices, and safety tools like dive flags and rescue signals.

Snorkelling Safety and Preparation:

Develop skills in dive planning, fitness awareness, the buddy system, and basic first aid.

After successfully completing this course, graduates are qualified to snorkel independently, as long as they follow these guidelines:

  • Activities remain similar to those practiced during training.
  • Snorkelling takes place in locations comparable to the training environment.
  • Conditions are consistent with those experienced during training.

Note: Junior snorkelers (ages 4–14) must snorkel with a parent, guardian, or dive professional.

  • Minimum age 4, 4 through 17 with parental consent

Demonstrate mature and sound judgment concerning dive planning and execution
