SDI Search and Recovery
The Search and Recovery Diver course equips divers with the skills and techniques needed to locate and retrieve lost items underwater. Whether you’re searching for a small object or recovering larger items, this course teaches you how to plan, execute, and evaluate search and recovery dives effectively.
During the course, you will practice various underwater search patterns and learn to use specialized equipment like lift bags, lines, and reels. The program emphasizes teamwork, communication, and precision, ensuring that you can safely conduct search and recovery dives in real-world scenarios. These skills allow you to perform effective searches while maintaining control and safety.
This certification enhances your diving abilities and prepares you to handle unique underwater situations, making you a valuable asset to any dive team.
The Search and Recovery course covers the following topics and more:
- Navigation
- Natural navigation
- Limited visibility diving
- Search techniques
- Salvage techniques
The Search and Recovery course consists of two dives.
The SDI Advanced Buoyancy Diver certification counts towards a single specialty rating to achieve the SDI Advanced Diver Development program.
Extra training
If the course cannot be completed within the dives planned and further training is deemed necessary we offer additional training. The costs for this are €150,- per extra day of training.
Course prerequisites
- SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent
- Minimum age 15, 15 through 17 with parental consent
