SDI Ice Diver
Ice diving offers a unique and serene experience, allowing divers to explore the underwater world during the winter session. This course provides the specialized training needed to safely plan and execute ice dives addressing the unique challenges associated with it. Participants will learn the necessary techniques to adapt to these conditions while enjoying the beauty and tranquility of this environment.

- The open water diver who is interested in a more challenging dive
- The certified diver looking to expand their diving season to all year round and experience the serenity of ice diving
What you can expect to learn:
The course also covers the roles and responsibilities of support personnel, including tenders and safety divers, ensuring a safe and coordinated dive. Practical skills are developed in controlled conditions to prepare divers for real-world scenarios, with activities tailored to the specific environments and conditions of ice diving.
This is an adventurous specialty that offers access to stunning and rarely seen underwater landscapes.
What’s in it for you?
Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in diving activities without direct supervision of the SDI Instructor so long as the following limits are adhered to:
- The diving activities approximate those of training
- The areas of activities approximate those of training
- Environmental conditions approximate those of training
Also, the SDI Ice Diver certification counts towards a single specialty rating to achieve the SDI Advanced Diver Development Program.
Extra training
If the course cannot be completed within the dives planned and further training is deemed necessary we offer additional training. The costs for this are €150,- per extra day of training.
Course prerequisites
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent.
